EXPERIMENT I. Steam Condensation on a Single Tube

Objective:   The purpose of these experiments is  to  develop  a correlation for predicting the heat transfer coefficient for film condensation on a vertical tube and a horizontal tube.

Overall Operation: Cold water flows through the copper tube.  Low pressure steam (in the shell) condenses on the outside surface of the tube and the inside surface of the glass shell.  DO NOT EXCEED 3 psig STEAM PRESSURE.  Base all heat transfer calculations on the heat duty of the water.  Be sure to always keep a minimum cooling water flow rate to prevent damaging the flexible seals between the tube and the shell housing.
