Undergraduate students in CBME are assigned advisors
based on where they are in our curriculum, not the
number of hours at OU. When your class entered OU,
a faculty member was assigned as its advisor. Your
advisor will stay with your class until it graduates.
By doing this, he will get to know you and will get
to know the special situations being encountered by
you and other students in your class. We believe this
gives you better advising and keeps you from losing
time unnecessarily on your progress toward graduation.
Assignments are made according to where the student
is in the CBME curriculum rather than by total hours
taken. Transfer students who have not taken any Chemical
Engineering courses should see the Freshman Adviser;
those that have taken at some Chemical Engineering
courses should see the Sophomore Adviser.
The CURRENT class advisors are:
High School (incoming Freshmen), Freshman and Transfer
Students (Class of 2011 or 2012): Dr. Brian Grady
Sophomores and Transfer Students (Class of 2010):
Dr. Robert Shambaugh
Junior (Class of 2009): Dr. Dimitrios Papavassiliou
Senior (Class of 2008): Dr. Richard Mallinson
5th year Seniors (Class of 2007): Dr. Vassilios Sikavitsas
Please contact your advisor and make an appointment with him.

Your advisor will check your selection and go over any questions or concerns you have. Your adviser will complete a verification form for you to return to WSSC and they will remove your enrollment stop. Some courses may require special permission forms. These are available in the department office, SEC, T-335. The special permission forms must be signed by the course instructor and taken to the office of the department offering the class that requires the special permission.
